The eSPORTS+CARS virtual race team has kicked off its assault on the Forza Racing Championship Season 2 Presented by Michelin with strong results in the opening weeks of competotion.

Launched earlier this year, the eSPORTS+CARS squad impressed in the first Forza championship claiming five of the top ten results in the global event staged on the Xbox One platform.

The eSPORTS+CARS line-up for season two finished first, second, third, fourth, sixth and 10th out of more than 9,000 racers.

newsletter_nov18_2For the current season, two of our drivers have been given a “free pass” and will be able to bypass the qualifying rounds and skip straight to the Grand Final. French racer AurĂ©lien “Laige” Mallet took the inaugural championship followed by American, Taylor “Lightning” Stomski.

The championship features three weeks of qualifying events including week day time trials, 1-on-1 elimination races on Saturdays and three x 16 car races on Sundays which are broadcast live online.

The Grand Final for the championship will be held on December 3.

“We have again assembled a very impressive group of gamers for our Xbox squad and are very much looking forward to challenging for the title again,” team founder, Darren Cox said.

“Global interest in the Forza championship is growing and we’re delighted to have the chance to do battle in such a high profile event.”

forzaTwo additional eSPORTS+CARS racers – British ace, David “Daveyskills” Kelly and Canadian Evan “Raceboy” Thorogood finished 1-2 in first week’s qualifier and are into the Grand Final. Three more worked their way into the final in week two with Robin “bbb0x” Betka winning from Alex “ChemicaL” Harrison and Matt “Zermatt” Kennedy

eSPORTS+CARS have already joined forces with 24 Hours of Le Mans LM P2-class winning sportscar team Greaves Motorsport and sports and full-motion virtual gaming center Let’s Race to provide additional training and opportunities for the virtual racers.

The team aims to break down the barriers between virtual and real-world motorsport and help turn motorsport gaming into a high-profile mainstream sport.
